Women's Soccer: Soccer America Honors Silva

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia women’s soccer rookie Frances Silva was named to Soccer America’s all-Freshman second team, the publication announced.
Silva put together an outstanding season at forward for coach Nikki Izzo-Brown and the Mountaineers. The Overland Park, Kan., native recorded four goals and three assists for 11 points to earn BIG EAST all-Rookie team honors.
Silva competed in all 24 matches, starting the final 20 contest and was tabbed BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Oct. 18 after a one goal, two assist weekend in league play. She played a crucial role in helping the Mountaineers win a second BIG EAST championship, scoring one goal and adding one assist in three conference tournament matches.
West Virginia finished the year with an 18-5-1 record, tying the school record for most wins in a season. WVU finished the season ranked No. 7 in Soccer America’s final poll.
