Women's Basketball: Earns Highest-Ever AP Ranking

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia women’s basketball team was voted to the No. 6 position in the Associated Press poll released today.
The No. 6 ranking is the highest-ever ranking in the history of the women’s basketball program. The Mountaineers enter tomorrow’s game undefeated as they are 11-0 overall and 1-0 in BIG EAST competition.
WVU has held all opponents under 60 points this season and less than 50 percent shooting from the field. Only allowing opponents an average 47.4 points per game is the third-lowest defensive average in the country.
The sixth-ranked West Virginia women’s basketball team will face North Carolina Central for a 6 p.m. game, Tuesday, Dec. 21 in Durham, N.C.
