Women's Basketball: Recruiting Class Earns Ranking

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Blue Star Basketball has announced its class of 2011 rankings and ranked West Virginia women’s basketball coach Mike Carey’s recruiting class as the 13th best in the nation.
With the loss of five seniors to graduation at the close of the 2010-11 season, Carey signed four players to the 2011 class, including Akilah Bethel (Randallstown, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross), Averee Fields (Hazel, Ky./Calloway County), Crystal Leary (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor) and Linda Stepney (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor).
Blue Star Basketball’s committee for rankings include a team of 20+ consultants, most of whom are former college coaches. Duke was chosen to have the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation with Tennessee and Connecticut making up the top three. BIG EAST foe Notre Dame took credit for the No. 6 spot and WVU had the third highest of the BIG EAST schools mentioned.
The Mountaineers tip off the 2010-11 season tonight at the WVU Coliseum as they face Loyola Maryland at 7 p.m.
