MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Despite losses yesterday from Texas, USC, Penn State and NC State, West Virginia still remains outside the Associated Press Top 25 football poll, released today.
The Mountaineers (3-1) are ranked No. 26 this week with 83 poll points, 11 points behind No. 25 Air Force. Oklahoma State, Florida State and Missouri also jumped West Virginia this week. This marks the second straight week West Virginia is just outside the poll after spending the first four weeks in the Top 25.
No other Big East schools are in this week’s AP poll.
West Virginia last played at No. 12 LSU on Saturday, Sept. 25, where the Mountaineers lost a 20-14 decision to the Tigers. WVU resumes non-conference play this Saturday by facing UNLV in a 3:30 p.m. matchup at Milan Puskar Stadium.
The Rebels lost to now No. 21 Nevada, 44-26, in Las Vegas late Saturday night. This Saturday's game against the Rebels will be televised on the Big East Network and can also be seen nationally on ESPN3.com.
