Women Begin Season 11th

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Associated Press women’s basketball poll was released today with West Virginia listed as preseason No. 11.
The preseason ranking is the highest preseason AP ranking for the Mountaineers and only the second preseason AP ranking in the history of the program. The 2008 team earned a preseason No. 18 ranking.
BIG EAST rival Connecticut was chosen as No. 1 in the poll with other league foes Notre Dame, Georgetown and St. John’s following just behind WVU.
The Mountaineers will play host to Fairmont State at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6 in exhibition action before opening the regular-season, Friday, Nov. 12 against Loyola Maryland in the WVU Coliseum.
