MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team plays its 21st annual Gold-Blue World Series beginning on Sunday, Oct. 17, at Hawley Field, at 5 p.m.
The Mountaineers will play games two and three on Monday and Tuesday, with first pitches scheduled for 5 p.m. on both days.
“We are really looking forward to this year’s series,” says 17-year Mountaineer coach Greg Van Zant. “The Gold-Blue series is always a highlight of our fall season, but this year’s games have an extra element of excitement around them. The team has been working very hard over the last six weeks, and everyone is ready to display their improvement in front of a crowd.”
Redshirt seniors Grant Buckner and Colin Durborow will captain the Gold and Blue teams, respectively. The Gold team is coached by seventh year assistant coach Pat Sherald, while first year assistant coach Jake Weghorst will lead the Blue squad.
