MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The NCAA has released its first men’s soccer ratings percentage index (RPI) ranking of the season with the West Virginia University men’s soccer team coming in at No. 17.
The RPI is a formula used by the NCAA to help determine which teams go to post-season tournaments and how they are seeded. It is compiled by a team’s winning percentage, strength of schedule and opponent’s strength of schedule.
West Virginia (6-3-2, 2-1-0 BIG EAST) has already played eight teams in the top 37 of the RPI to a 4-3-1 record, while future opponents South Florida, Connecticut and Providence are also in the top 37 raising the total to 11 of 17 opponents.
The Mountaineers take on Pitt tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. The game will be held at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium and has been designated as a “Dollar Night.”
