Track: Mountaineers at No. 23

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team has received a No. 23 ranking in the week one poll, announced today by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Down one spot from their preseason No. 22 ranking, the Mountaineers are one of three BIG EAST teams in the top 25. Louisville leads the conference at No. 14, while Connecticut is No. 21.
Texas A&M holds the No. 1 spot, with Oregon, BYU, LSU and Florida State rounding out the top five.
A list of Mountaineers also earned individual rankings this week, including senior Keri Bland, who currently ranks No. 1 in the mile and No. 17 in the 800-meter run.
Seniors Clara Grandt, Marie-Louise Asselin and April Rotilio are ranked No. 12 in the 5,000 meter, No. 13 in the 3,000 meter and No. 25 in the 400-meter dash, respectively, while junior Chelsea Carrier is ranked No. 16 in the 60-meter hurdles.
The Mountaineers return to action this weekend as they travel to No. 6 Penn State for the Penn State National Invitational.
