MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team had an impressive showing in the field events today as four met BIG EAST qualifying marks at the State Farms Games at the WVU Shell Building.
“Today we saw a big step up in the field events after a spotty showing at Penn State last weekend,” coach Sean Cleary says. “We are pleased with the progression in one week’s time. Hopefully, this momentum will carry over to next weekend when we return to Penn State.”
In the long jump, junior Chelsea Carrier led the team finishing first (5.77 meters), while sophomore Meghan Mock placed second (5.68 meters).
The Mountaineers then took the top two spots in the high jump, as junior Katelyn Williams placed first with a conference qualifying mark of 1.75 meters, and Carrier finished second (1.70 meters).
Junior Alexandra Acker took first in the pole vault with a BIG EAST qualifying mark of 3.80 meters.
