MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team is set to return to action this weekend as it travels to University Park, Pa., for the Penn State Northeast Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 16.
WVU will face tough competition this weekend as it faces No. 10 Penn State, as well as teams from Cornell, Georgetown, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Albany and Michigan.
In the preseason poll announced last week by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, WVU received a No. 22 ranking. The Mountaineers are one of two BIG EAST teams in the top 25, with Connecticut ranked at No. 14.
In their last meet on Dec. 5, the Mountaineers dominated at the WVU Holiday Classic with six Mountaineers meeting BIG EAST qualifying standards, including sophomore long jumper Meghan Mock, who earned a first-place finish at 5.58-meters.
