MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team is set begin BIG EAST play this weekend, as it hosts Syracuse at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, and Marquette at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The Mountaineers are 10-5 on the season after falling in a four-set match to Marshall this week.

The Orange are 10-4 on the season, coming off a 3-0 defeat over Cornell on Wednesday. Senior middle blocker Sarah Morton, a national leader in total blocks, led the team with 10 blocks, including eight solo, while also adding seven kills. Marquette is off to its best start since the 2004 season, with an overall record of 10-4, after going 1-3 at the Michigan Invitational. Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Beyer was named to the all-tournament team, posting 19 kills in the Golden Eagles’ win over Dayton. The Mountaineers and Golden Eagles are tied with three wins a piece in the all-time series. Last season in Milwaukee, Marquette defeated WVU 3-0.
