MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer 2009 recruiting class was ranked No. 20 by CollegeSoccerNews, the Web site announced today. This marks the second soccer based media outlet to rank the Mountaineers’ incoming class in the Top 25.
Coach Marlon LeBlanc and his staff now have placed in the Top 30 of CollegeSoccerNews’ Recruiting Classes each of the last three seasons, with the No. 20 ranking being the highest in LeBlanc’s four-year tenure.
The Mountaineers are one of three BIG EAST teams to be listed in the Top 20 portion of the rankings.
The 10-member incoming class is made up of five midfielders, two combo midfielders/forwards, one forward, one defender and a goalkeeper.
Earlier this offseason, Soccer America ranked the incoming class as the 12th-best nationally.
The Mountaineers’ 2009 campaign begins with a home exhibition match against Big Ten opponent Michigan on Aug. 23. Kickoff at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is slated for 1 p.m.
