MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men’s soccer incoming freshman Travis Pittman has been named an ESPN Rise Magazine high school boys’ first team All-American. He is one of 12 players to earn the first team distinction and is the only BIG EAST athlete on the first-team list.
A Manassas, Va., native, Pittman is a member of the U.S. U-18 National Team pool and was a three-year varsity starter at Osbourn High. He earned first team Washington Post all-Metro accolades as a senior after finishing the season with 15 goals and 11 assists. Pittman also was bestowed Cedar Run District and Northwest Region Player of the Year honors.
The 6-foot-1 midfielder highlights a 2009 WVU incoming class that was ranked No. 12 in the nation by Soccer America, marking the first time the program has earned a Top 15 mark by the publication.
