MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three members of the West Virginia University track and field team are competing in the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 10-13, in Fayetteville, Ark.
Marie-Louise Asselin will compete in the 5,000-meter event, Clara Grandt will race in the 10,000-meter event and Chelsea Carrier will compete in the 100-meter hurdles.
“I’m excited because our kids are running the very best they have ran all season these past few weeks,” commented Coach Sean Cleary. “Coming into the NCAAs on that kind of roll is terrific and the sky is the limit. We’re in a very good position to come home with career-best performances.”
Asselin’s semifinal race will be on Wednesday at 8:40 p.m. She is currently ranked seventh in the event with a time of 16:03.29. The final is set for Friday at 8:15 p.m.
