Track: Asselin and Bland Earn Academic Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Cross Country/Track and Field student-athletes Marie-Louise Asselin and Keri Bland have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first and second teams, respectively.
Asselin, is a two-time track and cross country All-American, and was named to the 2008 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Team. She is the 2009 Red Brown Cup Award Winner and has qualified to compete in the upcoming NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in both the 10,000 and 5,000-meter events.
This is Asselin’s second consecutive first team honor.
Bland was named the 2009 BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championship’s Most Outstanding Track Performer after she won the 1,000-meter event, and is also a two-time All-American in both cross country and track.
Both Asselin and Bland are BIG EAST Academic All-Stars and members of the Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll. In addition, both were named to the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team earlier this season.
