Cross Country: Asselin Academic All-American

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University rising senior All-American Marie-Louise Asselin was named today to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American women’s track & field/cross country national third team, as selected by College Sports Information Director’s of America.
A Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, native, Asselin boasts a 3.67 GPA in exercise physiology and is a four-time All-American (cross country and track & field -- 3k and DMR). A three-time Mid-Atlantic Region performer, she also is a two-time all-BIG EAST selection, a 2007 member of the Canadian National Team and the BIG EAST’s 3,000 meter champion in indoor track. She was also named the conference’s Most Outstanding Performer for her indoor efforts.
A WVU Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll and BIG EAST Academic All-Star performer, Asselin helped the Mountaineers to their highest-ever finish at cross country nationals last season with a fourth-place showing.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
