Cross Country: 2009 Schedule Announced

MORGANTOWN, W.VA. – West Virginia University Coach Sean Cleary has announced the cross country schedule for the 2009 season.
"We will follow a schedule similar to the last few years,” comments Cleary. “It is a schedule that is set up to have the level of competition increase meet by meet culminating at the NCAA Championships."
The 2009 season begins with the team’s only home meet on Aug. 29, before traveling to Maryland Eastern Shore on Sept. 5.
WVU will compete in the annual Paul Short and Penn State National Invitational meets in October before traveling to Kenosha Wis. to race in the BIG EAST Championships. Maryland Eastern Shore will then host the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 14th before the ECAC Championship in New York City on Nov. 21.
The Mountaineers travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championships before qualified team members compete in the Canadian and USA National Championships to complete the season.
The 2008 team finished fourth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Juniors Marie-Louise Asselin and Keri Bland earned All-American honors after finishing 14th and 17th. The squad also placed first in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional race and placed second at the BIG EAST Championships.
