Men's Soccer: WVU Opens Spring Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team will kick off its spring season with a contest on Wednesday, April 8, against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer Leagues. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Pending inclement weather, the game will be played at Milan Puskar Stadium.
Admission is free for all spring contests.
WVU returns BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and league first team member Zach Johnson and All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention selection Gift Maworere. The squad will also have freshmen sensations Raymon Gaddis and Alex Silva back on the pitch.
The Mountaineers wrapped up the 2008 campaign with a 5-9-5 overall record and a 3-4-4 mark in the BIG EAST. The season was highlighted by upset victories over No. 7-ranked Connecticut and non-conference rival, Ohio State, which was ranked No. 22 at the time.
