MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team fell to Team Ontario, 1-0, Sunday morning at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Despite West Virginia dominating the pace of play throughout the game, Team Ontario got on the scoreboard only five minutes into the game and it turned out to be enough with the stellar play of Team Ontario’s goalkeeper.
The Mountaineers finished the game with 12 shots on goal compared to Team Ontario’s two. West Virginia also held Team Ontario shot-less in the second half and had the edge in corner kicks, 5-0.
West Virginia goalkeeper Kerri Butler played in all 90 minutes and the Mountaineers received strong play from Megan Mischler, Ashtin Larkin and Nicole Mailloux.
Team Ontario has been on a training trip in Morgantown for the past three days.
West Virginia has two more contests in the spring season, both at Dick Dlesk. The Mountaineers will host Purdue on April 18 at 7 p.m. and Ohio State on April 25 at 2 p.m.
Admission is free and open to the public for home spring women’s soccer contests.
