MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team plays host to a pair of matches this weekend at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers play conference foe Pitt in the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Soccer Invitational on Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m. and battle Team Ontario on Sunday, April 5, at 9 a.m.
Saturday’s match is the third of the spring exhibition season for WVU. The 90-minute match is the second part of WVU’s efforts to raise funds for the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center. On March 1, the team competed in the “Three’s a Team…the Fourth’s a Mountaineer” all-day event at the Caperton Indoor Facility.
"The WVU women's soccer team is comprised of outstanding student-athletes who are just as dedicated to beating breast cancer as they are to winning a soccer match," said Judith Schreiman, MD, medical director of the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center at West Virginia University. "We are proud of their accomplishments and honored to have their ongoing support."
Over the past five years, the WVU women’s soccer team has raised more than $36,000 to help fight breast cancer. The Betty Puskar Breast Care Center provides a comprehensive program for breast care, offering the best available expertise, educational tools and technology aimed at the prevention and early detection of breast cancer.
West Virginia’s match with Team Ontario, a U-16 Canadian team, is separate from the regularly scheduled five spring contests allotted by the NCAA.
Admission is free and open to the public for all home spring women’s soccer contests.
