On Guys Getting to Play
Eddie Davis is in contention right now to be a second corner. I thought Keith Tandy’s interception was big. He has a nice break on the ball and really looked good. I am glad to see Keith make that play. Eddie has been counted on, and I hope that this is the year he steps up to the plate and takes the bat off of his shoulder.
Logan Heastie was out there doing some drills. It’s just good to have him out there, and I appreciate the eligibility center acting in such a quick fashion. It is very nice and pleasing to know that they do put the young men’s interest at heart and that is a tremendous complement to our eligibility center.
On Other Players
Ryan Clarke has been both today. He has played fullback and tailback, which is good to see. We need a big back, and Ryan has a chance to do that. Today at times, he looked ok and at other times he looked lost. It was just day three and a typical offense for right now.
Tyler Urban is doing well, he looked like he was catching the ball pretty good. I think that he will get better every year. We are going to count on some big things from Tyler Urban this year.
Ryan is going to be looked at as one of our backs. We have two nice big freshmen coming in here that are 225 and 228 lbs., but they haven’t done it yet. He is here now and has a chance to make some great strides and really get going.
On the Defense’s Domination
I thought they (the offense) would fight a little tougher. In the fight and the enthusiasm of the offensive line, I was not pleased at all. Our defense was pitch forking and coming down hill at them and it stunned them pretty good. They broke out a couple plays there and did some nice things but not on a consistent basis.
On Alric Arnett
I think that Alric Arnett is going to be a heck of a player. He is going to be a leader on our receiving corps, and he has made some big catches again today.
Tomorrow we are going to come out and really have a tough practice at 11 a.m. sharp.
PLAYER QUOTES
Jarrett Brown
I think I lead by example. I don’t yell at people really, I just lead by example, whether it’s being first out on the field or fastest in sprints.
Bradley Starks
As of right now its full time (being a receiver). I am putting everything I have into being a receiver and getting better and better everyday. In my heart I want to play as a quarterback, but I just want to help them team in anyway that I can.
Coley White
I don’t think that the offense did very good today, but we will come back tomorrow.
It’s going to be better for me this year to actually get out there and get some reps in and have more of a chance.
Growing up I never got to play with him (Pat White), and then I did last year so I am getting used to him not being here now. He was hard on me last year, but I have two other quarterback coaches and Jarrett has helped me out a lot and has done well in taken on the big brother role.
Eddie Davis
I told coach I wanted to take some punt returns this year, and I have got a chance to do that in practice.
