MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – As the lone competitor for the West Virginia University men’s swimming and diving team at the 2009 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, senior Michael Walker has completed day one of competition.
Walker swam in the first of his three events, the 200 IM finishing in 43rd place and breaking a school record he previously set at the 2009 BIG EAST Championships. With his time of 1:46.04, it is a good indication of how he will swim tomorrow in his best event, the 400 IM. The Bridgeport, W.Va., native is currently ranked 15th in the country in the 400 IM, with his best time being 3:45.45.
The preliminary rounds will once again begin at 11 a.m. CT, at the Student Rec Center Natatorium in College Station, Texas.
