WVU Takes on Coppin St.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University’s women’s basketball team will take on Coppin State in the first round of WNIT action, tonight, at 7 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum.
West Virginia (17-14, 5-11) was last in action on March 7, when it participated in the BIG EAST Tournament in Hartford, Conn. The Mountaineers won in the first round with a 53-48 victory over Providence, but lost in the second round to DePaul, 75-72, in a nailbiting overtime thriller.
The Mountaineers are led by All-BIG EAST Second Team members senior Takisha Granberry and sophomore Liz Repella. Both average about 16 points per game with Repella bringing down 8.1 rebounds per game and Granberry.
Coppin State (14-14, 12-4) is making their fifth consecutive trip to postseason play. The Eagles are led by All-MEAC First Team senior Whitney Cunningham who has averaged 12.0 ppg and 9.2 rpg. Cunningham also led the MEAC in rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage.
This meeting will be the fifth between the Mountaineers and Eagles with West Virginia winning the previous four, all in Morgantown.
