Swimming: WVU Completes Day One of NCAAs

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's swimming and diving team completed day one of competition at the 2009 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in College Station, Texas.
Juniors Morgan Callaway and Kayla Andrews represented the Mountaineers on the first day of competition.
In the second race of the day Callaway finished in 48th place in the 500 free with a time of 4:47.84. Callaway, a native of Coatesville, Pa., currently holds the school record in the event and placed first in the event at the BIG EAST Championships.
In the fourth event of the day, Andrews swam in the 50 free finished in 43rd place with a time of 22.67. Andrews, a Newark, Del., native, placed holds the school record and placed third at the BIG EAST Championships.
Competition will resume tomorrow March 20, at 11 a.m. with Andrews swimming in the 100 free and Callaway swimming the 200 free.
