Cross Country: Three To Race In U.S. Trials

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University cross country runner Clara Grandt will race in the United State World Cross Trials tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood, Md.
Grandt will run in the master’s women’s 8K race at 9:45 a.m. The West Union, W.Va., native placed 42nd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships last fall. The team finished in fourth place, marking the highest-ever finish in school history.
In the fall, Grandt was named to the All-BIG EAST Women’s Team after finishing third at the conference championship and was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team after placing sixth at the NCAA Regionals.
Freshman Audrey Moskal and Hallie Portner will run in the junior women’s 6K race beginning at 11:45 a.m.
There will be six cross country championship races on the day with runners aiming to will qualify to represent Team USA at the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association Cross Country Championships at Chain of Lakes Park in Orlando, Fla. on March 7 and at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships March 28, in Amman, Jordan.
Taped delayed highlights from tomorrow’s race will be televised on Feb. 15, on ESPN during the Tyson Invitational coverage.
