MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (February 5, 2009) – Sophomore women’s basketball guard Liz Repella has been named to the 2008-09 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II women’s basketball first team as selected by College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA).
A Steubenville, Ohio, native, Repella boasts a 3.95 GPA in exercise physiology and leads the Mountaineers in scoring (15.6) and rebounding (7.8). She has reached double figure scoring in 19 of 21 games so far this season, including five 20-point efforts with seven double-doubles.
Along with Repella, Jennifer Bender (Monmouth), Maria Getty (Villanova), Joyce Novacek (Bucknell) and Morgan Robertson (La Salle) were named to the CoSIDA All-District II First Team. Repella is one of just four BIG EAST student-athletes named to the first team in any of the eight districts (Getty, Maya Moore/Connecticut, Jill Stephens/Cincinnati).
Repella is now a candidate for Academic All-America honors at the national level.
