Women’s Soccer: Spring Slate Announced

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team will take part in five matches during the 2009 spring season. The Mountaineers will train from now until April 25 with a game against Ohio State to conclude the spring season.
West Virginia travels to Penn State on Feb. 28, for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in State College, Pa. It’s the first of five competition dates allowed by the NCAA.
Next up for the Mountaineers is a two-game trip to Tennessee on March 28. WVU will face Tennessee at 10 a.m. and Georgia at noon in Knoxville, Tenn.
WVU will play conference foe Pitt in the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Soccer Invitational on April 4 at 11 a.m. at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The spring booking concludes with a pair of home matches against Purdue (April 18) and Ohio State (April 25) at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is schedule for 7 p.m. against the Boilermakers and for 2 p.m. against the Buckeyes.
Also this spring is West Virginia’s annual 4-versus-4 tournament to raise funds for the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center. On March 1, teams will compete in the “Three’s a Team…the Fourth’s a Mountaineer” all-day event at the Caperton Indoor Facility. The tournament is open to boys and girls in grades three through eight, with an open division for college-age and older groups.
