MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia football player Reed Williams has been named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week, announced today by the conference.
The Moorefield, W.Va., native contributed with nine tackles, two sacks, 2.5 tackles for a loss and a pass breakup in West Virginia's 24-21 victory at Rutgers.
Williams was the catalyst for a Mountaineer defense that held the Scarlet Knights to 218 yards of total offense, WVU's second-lowest amount of yardage it has given up this season.
Williams is tied for fourth on the team with 57 tackles, and has five TFL's, seven breakups and one forced fumble.
