Thirty four years later Bobby Bowden says he has finally received his 1975 Peach Bowl ring. An anonymous donor provided the funds for the rings that were presented to ’75 team members during a private ceremony before West Virginia’s football game against East Carolina in September.
Shortly after that, Bowden got his ring in the mail.
“I’m proud of it,” Bowden said. “It’s 34 years late. It came probably around the first of this past season, probably around September. It’s a pretty ring. I had no idea. All of the sudden I had received a ring. I saw what it was and I forgot whether there was a note in there or not. I knew what it was about.”
West Virginia defeated North Carolina State 13-10 in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta and shortly after the game Bowden left to take the Florida State job.
