Volleyball: Gallahan Earns Weekly BIG EAST Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior outside hitter Kristina Gallahan was named to the BIG EAST honor roll for this week announced by the conference office today.
The Mooresville, N.C., native was a crucial part in the Mountaineers 1-1 showing this past weekend, as they defeated UConn (3-1) and fell to St. John’s (1-3).
Gallahan led the team with a 4.25 kills-per-set average, third highest in the BIG EAST, as she posted 34 kills on the weekend. On Friday, Gallahan recorded a season-high 18 kills and a .255 hitting percentage, leading WVU to its first victory over the Huskies since the 2003 season.
She also had 11 digs and five blocks in the two matches.
The Mountaineers (14-12, 4-7) fight for a chance to make the conference tournament as they face Villanova at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at the WVU Coliseum.
