Women's Basketball: WVU Prepares for Marist

WEST VIRGINIA-MARIST GAME NOTES
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s women’s basketball team plays host to Marist in second round action of the 2009 Preseason WNIT, Monday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum. The meeting will be the first between the two schools.
West Virginia (1-0) is fresh off a 79-42 victory over Towson this past Friday at the Coliseum. All five WVU starters were in double figures scoring, led by junior all-Big East guard Liz Repella’s 17 points and seven rebounds, junior Korinne Campbell’s 12 points and 11 rebounds and freshman center Asya Bussie’s 14 points and eight boards.
Marist (1-0) defeated North Carolina A&T, 80-64, Friday night in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Senior forward and all-MAAC first team performer Rachele Fitz led the Red Foxes with 30 points and nine rebounds while junior teammate Erica Allenspach contributed 20 points with seven caroms. The two were a combined 19 of 26 from the field.
Marist returns four starters from last year’s 29-4, 16-2 squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year and for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
Tickets for the matchup are $6 for the general public, $4 for youths 18 and under and $3 for groups of 10 or more. WVU women’s basketball season ticket holders should use the Preseason WNIT Second Round ticket included in their season ticket package.
