Soccer: WVU Plays Host to BIG EAST Championship

BIG EAST Championship Bracket
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University will play host to the 2009 BIG EAST men’s soccer championship, with semifinal matches on Friday, Nov. 13, and the title match on Sunday, Nov. 15, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Admission to the match is free for all students from a BIG EAST school with a valid student ID. Tickets for adults ages 19 and older are $5 apiece and admission for anyone 18 and under is $2 apiece.
The first match on Friday at 3 p.m. features Blue Division No. 5 seed Providence against Red Division No. 2 seed St. John’s.
The Friars (10-6-3) enter the match after defeating Villanova, 2-1, in the opening round, and posting a 1-0 overtime victory over Connecticut in the quarterfinals. St. John’s (8-2-8) earned a first-round bye and then took a 3-0 victory over Rutgers.
The second semifinal match will have Blue Division No. 2 seed Notre Dame facing Red Division No. 1 seed Louisville at 5:30 p.m.
Notre Dame (10-7-2) earned a first-round bye and then defeated USF in a shootout, 5-4, to advance. Louisville (13-2-3) also advanced in a shootout, defeating DePaul, 3-2, in penalty kicks.
Both matches will be televised live on CBS College Sports.
The championship match is scheduled for Sunday at noon and it will be broadcast live on BIG EAST Television.
