Yusuke Nagai enters his third season with the West Virginia University baseball team, including his first as the Director of Baseball Operations after spending the past two years as a student manager.
Nagai is responsible for handling the recruiting database management, baseball camp operations, fundraising events and field work duties.
In the summer of 2008, he worked for the Chiba Lotte Marines as a research and marketing intern. Nagai worked with the Japanese professional team while Bobby Valentine, former Texas Rangers and New York Mets manager, managed the team.
After graduating from Hosei University in Tokyo, Japan, he worked for Daiwa Institute of Research Ltd., which provides highly distinctive information services in three sectors -- financial research, consulting and information systems solution. He worked at the organization as an IT Specialist/Consultant for about two years.
The Tokyo native spent four years as an outfielder and first baseman for the Hosei University baseball team in Japan. He received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics in the field of Environmental Studies at Hosei University in March 2005.
Nagai is also working on his Masters degree in Business Administration at WVU and will graduate in August 2010.
