MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Six of West Virginia University’s women’s basketball BIG EAST games will be televised nationally this season, the league today announced.
Three games (at Pitt/Jan. 17; at Notre Dame/Jan. 24; vs. Georgetown, Feb. 14) will air on ESPNU. WVU’s BIG EAST home opener with Pitt, on Jan. 5, and its home game against Rutgers on Feb. 16, will be seen on CBS College Sports Network. The Georgetown contest has been moved to that Sunday from its original Saturday, Feb. 13, listing, and will be part of ESPN’s February Frenzy/Pink Zone. The BIG EAST opener at St. John’s, on Jan. 2, will be the BIG EAST’s game of the week via its regional package.
”We’re excited about this season and we’re even more thrilled that several of our games will be on television,” coach Mike Carey says. “It’s a great way for our fans to get a chance to see us play if they can’t make it to our games. And it’s great exposure for our program.”
The Mountaineers open preseason practice on Friday, Oct. 16.
