ST. JOHN'S GAME NOTES
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University's women's basketball team plays host to St. John's in a BIG EAST matchup Saturday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m., at the WVU Coliseum.
West Virginia (11-7, 0-5) is looking for its BIG EAST victory after coming off a winless road trip at Villanova and Rutgers last week. St. John’s (13-4, 1-3) has lost three straight in league play.
WVU leads the all-time series with the Red Storm by a 15-4 count and has won three in a row. WVU is 8-1 all-time at home against St. John’s and Mike Carey is 9-1 all-time against the Red Storm. In all-time BIG EAST regular season play, WVU is 12-4 in matchups against St. John’s.
Senior Takisha Granberry and sophomore Liz Repella pace the Mountaineer attack, averaging 16.1 and 15.7 points per game, respectively. Senior guard Monique McLean (19.0) and freshman forward Da’Shena Stevens (11.0) lead the Red Storm in scoring.
Saturday's game is deemed “Dairy Mart Dollar Day,” where fans can visit any Morgantown-area Dairy Mart to pick up a coupon good for one dollar admission to the game.
The contest will also be televised on the Big East Television Network.
