Track: WVU To Compete In Penn State Open

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team travels to State College, Pa., to compete in the Penn State Open on Saturday, January 17. Action is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Horace Ashenfelter Indoor Track.
Along with Penn State, WVU will compete against California (Pa.), Cornell, Delaware, Duquesne, East Carolina, Hampton, Indiana (Pa.), Lock Haven, Morgan State, Penn, Pitt, Robert Morris, Rutgers, Seton Hall and St. John's.
“Every time we line up and compete it is an important race,” comments Coach Sean Cleary. “This Open offers better competition which the kids get more excited for and we’re excited to see where we fair against some of the better teams in the East.”
At last season’s meet, Marie-Louise Asselin took first place in 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:47.94, while Ahna Lewis ran to a second-place finish at 10:08.77 in the 3,000-meter run. April Rotilio placed seventh in her section of the 200-meter dash at 24.79, and Maria Dalzot placed eighth in her group in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:11.86.
