MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Defender Caralee Keppler has joined the West Virginia University women’s soccer team Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown announced today. Keppler, who graduated high school early, is in her first semester on campus with the Mountaineers.
“We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with Caralee this spring. She is such a committed, hard-working, determined young lady,” says Izzo-Brown. “Athletically and academically, she has always strived to be the best, and I know she wants to contribute right away to our success. Caralee is a gifted soccer player and I look forward to helping her develop her full potential on the playing field.”
A native of Rockville Centre, N.Y., Keppler did not play high school soccer, opting to play club with the Rockville Centre Tornadoes. With the Tornadoes, Keppler guided her teams to the state cup finals in 2007 and 2008 for Region I. Keppler also played ODP for the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association for two seasons.
Keppler was a standout softball and track performer for Oceanside High, earning all-conference honors in track with a school record 300-meter time of 41.2. She also excelled in softball, earning all-conference and all-county recognition. She has worked her way on to the academic honor roll numerous times and is a National Junior Honor Society member.
Keppler gives the Mountaineers an early enrollee for the second-straight year, joining Morgan Betscher who enrolled in Jan. 2008.
