Women's Soccer: Several Mountaineers Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team garnered several individual accolades after finishing 1-0-1 at the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic.
Four players earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, giving WVU the most of the four participating schools, which included Tennessee, Washington State and Illinois.
Senior Deana Everrett led the way by earning the Overall Most Valuable Player award. The Oakville, Ontario, native netted her second goal of the season in a 1-1 tie against Washington State.
Sophomore forward Megan Mischler won the Offensive Most Valuable Player award. The Moon, Pa., native had five shots on goal and provided several scoring chances for the Mountaineers. Mischler has now been named to the all-tourney squad for the second straight weekend.
Senior Greer Barnes was named Defensive Most Valuable Player after leading the way in WVU’s stout defensive effort during its two-match trip. The Rye, N.Y., native and preseason All-American provided stability on the back line in both matches, including WVU’s 1-0 victory over Tennessee last Friday.
Senior Amanda Cicchini joined her teammates by earning a selection on the All-Tournament Team. The Oakville, Ontario, native tallied three shots overall, including one on goal, to merit her selection.
