Volleyball: Mountaineers Go 1-1

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University volleyball team went 1-1 after defeating North Carolina Central (0-7) today at the Hilton Garden Inn Classic, in Rock Hill, S.C.
The Mountaineers (2-4) defeated the Eagles in a 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 20-25, 25-12) match.
Redshirt-sophomore setter Nicole Jones continued her success posting a double-double with 34 assists and 11 digs.
Freshman outside hitter Kylie Armbruster finished the match on top with 12 kills, 13 digs and three service aces. Junior outside hitter Kristina Gallahan led the team in kills with 12.
Earlier in the day Morehead State (6-1) defeated the Mountaineers 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-15).
Jones posted her second double-double of the season in the loss, with 29 assists and 10 digs. Gallahan led in kills with 11, while sophomore libero Bonnie West recorded 23 digs.
WVU will open its home season next weekend when in-state rival Marshall travels to the WVU Coliseum on Friday, Sept. 12. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
