MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – No. 8 West Virginia travels to soggy Greenville, N.C., to take on East Carolina (1-0) on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium (43,000) at 4:30 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN (Mike Patrick, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe).
According to the latest Accuweather forecast, Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to pass through the Carolinas sometime Friday night and be out of the Greenville area before kickoff. The uncertain weather has caused a change of venue for the Alumni Association’s “Walk the Plank” tailgate planned from 2-4 p.m. The new venue will now be the Greenville Convention Center.
East Carolina officials announced Thursday afternoon that it will open the stadium parking lots three hours before kickoff to allow for adequate drainage due to the expected heavy rains in the area.
East Carolina will provide further updates should weather conditions change.
