Cross Country: WVU Ranked No. 9 In The Nation

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– The West Virginia University cross country team has been ranked No. 9 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Associations Division I Women’s National Poll, released today. The Mountaineers have been idle since Sept. 13.
The Mountaineers received 268 votes in the poll. Oregon (359) took first place, followed by Washington (345), Florida State (337), Minnesota (317) and Stanford (309). The Mountaineers are the second-highest ranked Mid-Atlantic region team, behind No. 6 Princeton, and are the highest ranked BIG EAST squad in front of No. 13 Providence.
The Mountaineers are off to a fast start this season, taking first place at the Preston Relays on Aug. 30, and finishing fourth at the Old Nassau Run, hosted by Princeton, on Sept. 13.
Next up, the team will race in the Paul Short Invitational held in Bethlehem, Pa., on Oct. 3. The race is set to begin at 2 p.m.
