Rowing: Mountaineers to Begin Fall Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University rowing team is set to begin its fall season with a trip to the Head of the Ohio, on the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The Mountaineers will have three entries competing with two boats in the women’s open four competition and one boat in the open eight race.
Last season the Mountaineers varsity four team ‘A’ boat led the way as it finished third overall with a time of 17:28.5, while the ‘B’ team followed in 13th place with a time of 19:15.3. The varsity eight boat also had a good showing with a seventh place finish (16:34.0).
The Head of the Ohio is one of the largest regattas with over 75 colleges and universities competing. To get more information and up-to-date results visit www.headoftheohio.org.
The Mountaineers will close out the fall season with a trip to the Head of the Occoquan in Fairfax Station, Va., on Saturday, Nov. 1.
