MORGANTOWN, W.Va.- The West Virginia University volleyball team (2-6) fell to Youngstown State (7-3) today at WVU Coliseum.
“We just came out too slow against Youngstown,” says Head Coach Veronica Hammersmith. “We finally picked it up in the third and fourth sets and almost got to the fifth, but we just waited to long to make our move. It was a struggle for everybody today.”
The Penguins defeated the Mountaineers 3-1 (25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 26-24).
Freshman outside hitter Kylie Armbruster once again led the Mountaineers with her third double-double of the season. Armbruster posted 12 kills and 12 digs on the day.
Also leading the Mountaineers were senior middle blockers Lisa Hough and Tammy Wolf. Hough finished second in kills with 11, while Wolf captured 10 kills and three block assists.
The Mountaineers return to action on Friday, Sept. 19, as they host the annual WVU Classic at the WVU Coliseum. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m.
