MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men’s soccer Head Coach Marlon LeBlanc announced today that junior Chase Dewese and freshman Connor Gorman will miss the 2008 campaign after each tore their left knee’s anterior cruciate ligament recently. Both will use a medical redshirt for this season.
“We’re really going to miss them,” LeBlanc said. “The entire team wishes them a speedy recovery and hopes to see them back in full stride in the spring.”
Dewese, a 6-foot-1 midfielder, played in 10 matches last season, starting one. The Beckley, W.Va., native was expected to contribute significantly and add valuable experience in the middle.
A 6-foot freshman from Philadelphia, Pa., Gorman was projected to earn the starting left back position. A naturally-left footed athlete, Gorman came to Morgantown as one of the top players from the Philadelphia area. He earned Pennsylvania All-State honors at William Penn Charter.
