MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University Swimming and Diving Head Coach Vic Riggs announced today the hiring of Kyle Gallo as an assistant coach.
“I am pleased to be adding Kyle to the swimming and diving staff,” says Riggs. “Kyle has shown, in his first year, the knowledge, energy and commitment to swimming and to be a good coach. As a former captain and alumni, Kyle brings with him Mountaineer pride to the program, which I am excited to have on the staff.”
Gallo enters his second season with the Mountaineers after serving as a graduate assistant last season.
Gallo is a former four-year swimmer and a 2005 captain of the WVU swim team, where he competed in the sprint free events. He is also a multiple BIG EAST Championship qualifier.
The Sterling, Va., native has been coaching all ability levels and age groups for over 10 years. He is currently a co-head coach for West Virginia Aquatics. Gallo graduated from WVU with a degree in physical education and health education teaching with a minor in athletic coaching in 2006.
Gallo is currently pursuing his masters in physical education. He resides in Morgantown.
“With the addition of Kyle's position, being a new position, I feel this shows the commitment West Virginia University has towards the swimming and diving program,” says Riggs. “It is another step forward to building this program into the best swimming and diving program in the BIG EAST.”
