WVU also played a game against Purdue, the defending Big Ten champions, in the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Soccer Invitational on April 13 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
All of the money raised throughout the spring, $10,132.30 in total, went directly to the Betty Puskar Breast Cancer Fund at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. Funds are used to support diagnosis and treatment efforts and to provide opportunities to help patients and their families in the midst of battling breast cancer.
“Our ladies should be applauded for their efforts in raising this money for breast cancer research,” says Head Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “The 4-versus-4 tournament is an exciting day of soccer for participants of all ages. It serves as a nice gathering place for our players to bond with young soccer stars throughout the state and in our generous community.”
Over the past five years, the WVU women’s soccer team has raised more than $36,000 to help fight breast cancer.
