Sanni, a Chicago Heights, Ill., native, was taken in the second round of this year’s draft with the 18th overall selection. She was an all-BIG EAST first team performer in both her junior and senior seasons.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that Yinka will have a successful professional career,” WVU Coach Mike Carey said. “With her international experience and the success she had here at WVU, she should have a very productive career in the WNBA.”
During her Mountaineer career, she scored 1,602 career points, seventh all-time in school history. She played in 129 games, the second-most in school history, and her 773 career rebounds are the sixth-most in school annals. Sanni finished her career as WVU’s single game, single season and career field goal percentage leader.
