MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s track and field team placed 14th with 26 team points at the 2008 ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Princeton, N.J.
In the final day of competition, just three Mountaineers competed. Sophomore Keri Bland won the 1,500 meter-run with a time of 4:19.02 crossing the line five seconds faster than the second-place competitor. She joins sophomore Clara Grandt who set a meet record in the 10,000-meter run with a 34:15.07 time yesterday.
“It’s pleasing to come back from ECACs with two individual event champions,” comments Head Coach Sean Cleary. “This will prepare us for the regional meet coming up in a few weeks.”
Also competing today were freshman Katelyn Williams, who tied for ninth place in the high jump with a jump of 1.70 meters, and senior Alexis Noel, who placed 19th with a leap of 11.68 meters in the triple jump.
Next up for the Mountaineers is a trip to NCAA Regionals, May 30-31.
