MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s women’s basketball team (25-8, 12-4) has been ranked No. 20 in the final USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll released today.
The ranking solidifies a season-long Top 20 coaches’ poll national ranking for the Mountaineers, marking the first time in school history that has occurred.
Five other BIG EAST teams finished the season in the Top 20: No. 3 Connecticut, No. 6 Rutgers, No. 12 Louisville, No. 13 Notre Dame and No. 16 Pitt.
This past season, West Virginia advanced to the NCAA tournament’s second round for the second consecutive year, defeated three nationally ranked teams along the way, finished third in the BIG EAST Conference and its 25 wins marked the second-most ever in a single season in school history.
