Rifle: Eskew Finishes Fourth At Junior Olympics

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia freshman shooter Brandi Eskew earned a fourth-place finish in the smallbore event, at the 2008 National Junior Olympic Championships, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Eskew finished day one with a score of 575 and shot a 572 in day two competition to place sixth with a score of 1147, and advance to the final round. The Petersburg, W.Va., native, shot a 98.9 out of 109 in the final to finish in fourth place overall with a total of 1245.9 points.
Eskew finished third in the air rifle competition, held yesterday.
“I was really happy with my results and that I moved up in the finals,” comments Eskew. “Overall, this has been a really good week.”
Eskew was also named to the National Rifle Association (NRA) All-America first team after the West Virginia rifle team took sixth place at the 2008 NCAA Championships on March 19.
